The previous two-span steel bridge (built in 1897) over the Danube in Immendingen-Hintschingen was no longer able to cope with the increased demands from the environment and the increasing weight of agricultural vehicles, so that the municipality of Immendingen had it replaced by a new single-span steel composite bridge with a span of 27.00 m. The bridge is located outside the town and was planned as a pure service road bridge and as an access road for the residents. It is also used by hikers and cyclists in the course of the Danube cycle path.
